Told you it wouldn't be long before I was back again! Really wanting to make a start on this so going to aim for one post a day for at least a week. Fingers crossed it all goes according to plan. Anyway, on with the post!
There is one thing that I absolutely love and that is painting my nails. I'm not entirely ladylike 90% of the time, but I am such a girl when it comes to nail polish. The sucky thing is that I'm not that good at them, however, practise makes perfect and I'm a lot better than I was.
I think nail colours and nail art are great ways to make statements about your style and who you are while being subtle. My nails tend to reflect my mood and I've been feeling very wintery recently (no idea why).
I thought it would be an idea to share the nail polishes that I'm going to be using this season just to perhaps share a little inspiration for your own winter nails.
Left: "Blueberry" by Barry M
Right: "Snow White" by Models Own
I absolutely love these two polishes together and haven't really done anything else on my nails for the past few weeks. They really signify cold and snow to me and are really rather Snow Fairy than festive.
I've been wearing Blueberry for the past year now, I just love the colour and I always get complimented on it. I do wear it year round, just because I love it so much, but I find that it is absolutely perfect for winter.
Just in case you're wondering, my nails aren't chipped (yet), the flecks on them are this:
It doesn't have a name, it's just clear nail polish with bits of glitter and stars in it from Claire's Accessories. I'll be honest, it's not great at distributing the flecks, it just makes it look like you've got stuff stuck to your nails, like in my picture. However, it is chip resistant so I find it works really well as a top coat. That being said, I think I will definitely have to invest in some proper glitter polish soon so if you've got any recommendations, leave them in a comment below.
Spring Green by Barry M
Comedic Cr43le UK Nail Lacquer by LA Colours
You can't go wrong with green and red over the festive period. After all, nothing says "Christmas" like them! Even though the green colour is called "Spring Green", I find that it's still close enough to the darker shade of green that you see around this time of year so it is very adaptable.
Now you may have guessed from the worn lettering on the LA Colours bottle but this nail polish is quite old. I actually borrowed it off my mum a couple of years back and loved it so much I just never gave it back. I'm not even sure if that is its actual name but it was on the side of the bottle so...
Anyway, this colour will definitely be making an appearance on my nails over the Christmas period. It's so festive-y, how could I resist!? I love the deep red colour and it comes out so thick and evenly, it's just perfect. Also, the nail polish has this golden sheen in it which adds that extra glamorous touch which is always nice for the party season.
Gold Limited Collection by M&S
Now, I seriously love love love this nail polish. I'm quite "out there" with my colour choices a lot of the time, but this colour is absolutely perfect if you wanted something classy and subtle, yet will still bring in a compliment or two if people see it. It's so perfect for just throwing on, the gold sheen will look beautiful on absolutely anyone and is perfect for those who perhaps want festive nails but don't want to highlight them too much.
Magnetix in blue Magnetic Nail Polish by Claire's Accessories
Whoever created magnetic nail polish, you are an incredible human being. It's amazing for those who want a unique design but don't have the time or can't be bothered to do it themselves or go to a salon. This version doesn't work as well as I've heard some of the other brands do (for example Barry M) but it gives it a damn good go and, generally, I'm pretty satisfied with the results.
For those not familiar with magnetic nail polish, you just paint a nail as normal then hold the magnet, handily installed in the cap at the top, over the nail for 10 seconds and hey presto! You have a pretty pattern in your pretty polish.
This one creates lines in the polish and the colour is perfect for those who prefer darker colours in the winter months.
Piccadilly Circus by Nails Inc London
Last, but certainly not least, is this cerise beauty. Granted, I can't dress it up, it's not really a Christmas or festive or even cold shade, but I do definitely recommend it if you want your nails to stand out this season. It's an amazingly bright shade and has the ability to instantly add glamour and warmth. I think that this is perfect for parties and going out, there's no way around it. It's bright, it's fun, and if you want to liven up your winter nails, an injection of this will definitely do the trick.
That's it for the blog post today, it's a bit of a big'un I know but hopefully it has been informative and a little inspirational for you if you were wanting to "winterize" your nails. Ooh I like that word.
Before I go, just wanted to say feel free to leave me anything at all in the comments, I would love to hear your feedback and recommendations and just generally get connected with people! Thought it would be a good idea to set up my links, just so they're out there. So click for my Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr and feel free to contact/follow/request a follow :)

A good colour for Christmas I think is Rimmel London I <3 lasting finish "239 Your Majesty" Its a nice gliterry sparklie silver. to get a good sparkle going on you need at least 2 coats but its worth it. It goes with what ever you're wearing and is something different =]
ReplyDeleteOoh yeah I might have to check that out. I've heard good things about Rimmel and that particular shade actually. It seems to be the official Christmas polish!
DeleteRimmel are fantastic for their colours and how long it lasts. Some bold colours like yellow, orange, pink etc come out bolder when they have a base coat f white. when you put the colour you originally chose it comes out as bright as it is in the bottle lol
DeleteI can't wait to see some of these on. Love the Spring Green a Red glitter topcoat over it could look really cute and festive. Good Luck with the post a day. I'm new to Blogging and finding it more time consuming than I thought, but I love it
